If you lead a busy life then long weekend breaks provide the ideal opportunity to relax, get away from it all and leave things behind – including bulging suitcases!
Don’t stress yourself out packing, just follow these tips and keep it simple:
- With all the new luggage regulations on air craft it really does pay to be a one-bag traveller, so travel light and take a few, versatile pieces for maximum effect. Before packing, lie out all you need on your bed, mixing and matching different holiday looks, ditching anything that doesn’t really work hard to earn its place in your suitcase.
- For a beach break, always pack a kaftan or tunic dress (preferably in suitcase-friendly, scrunchy silk) that’ll give you an array of options. Throw it over a bikini, wear it shopping at the local market, or accessorise it with jewellery and a clutch bag for a relaxed evening meal. Flat shoes are essential holiday footwear, and a pair of metallic flip-flops is an absolute must they only take up a small amount of suitcase space (or you can wear them to travel), they’re comfortable on the feet and they add a touch of glamour to a simple outfit.
- Every woman should have at least one maxi dress this summer, so bag yourself a fabulous stylish '70s-inspired version to wear with flats during the day, and espadrille wedges and a long pendant for a laid-back stylish evening look.
- Now whilst you don’t want to look like you’re on your way to the office, a city break wardrobe should have a slightly smarter edge. Replace the simple vest tops with silk camis in turquoise, fuchsia and vibrant greens; swap flipflops for a comfy pair of ballet flats (flats are essential the best way to get to know a new city is on foot); pack a pair of wideleg linen trousers and carry a feminine, belted cardigan that’ll work well with the rest of your holiday wardrobe, night or day.
- Transfer your beads and baubles into a silk jewellery roll that’ll slip snugly inside a pair of shoes in your suitcase, and for great space saving transfer all your cosmetics into mini bottles.
- And for your final holiday essential, pop a lightweight foldaway bag in your suitcase just in case you do a bit a shopping whilst you’re away!
